Process Operator

 

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 07:00am to 16:00pm with a 1 Hour Unpaid Lunchbreak

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £22,000.00 to £29,000.00 /year

Holiday: 25 Days Annual Leave (rising to 30) + Bank Holidays

 

Job Description

 

In this role as Process Operator, you will be required to work as a member the team, manufacturing specific products according to the Company’s standards and requirements of a top-tier COMAH site, in accordance with written procedures, complying with safety regulations and quality requirements and working within the company’s Environmental Permit consents.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify and report problems and assist in actions for continuous improvement whilst being flexible in your approach to duties in accordance with the requirements of the business.

Your role will include the following:

  • Operate a manual and automated dilution process whilst monitoring the charging of raw materials

  • Operate a distributed control system (DCS) and record specific production parameters and adjust accordingly to meet production specifications

  • Take representative samples and perform basic in-process testing and submit finished product samples to the laboratory for analysis

  • Adjust specific parameters during the production process following analysis from the samples taken

  • Responsible for packing finished products into IBCs and a variety of containers

  • Operate equipment ancillary to the main process e.g. scrubbers, cooling water heat exchangers, vaporisers, chiller units and bulk storage

  • Responsible for loading / off-loading ammonia solution and demineralised water into and from storage tanks whilst monitoring levels

  • Responsible for off-loading anhydrous ammonia bulk deliveries

  • Monitor, record and report the condition of process equipment within the working plant area to identify defects and enable repairs by the maintenance teams to be performed in a timely manner

  • Isolate, decontaminate and prepare plant equipment in line with the requirements specified in the Permit to Work (PTW), to ensure equipment/plant is in a safe condition for maintenance/repair personnel to work on

  • Maintain the cleanliness of process equipment

  • Ensure the housekeeping standards of the plant area meet the Company requirements

  • Complete all necessary paperwork covering plant condition, plant safety, production data and routine recording of specified parameters, inputting any required data on to the Company computer system where required

  • To be authorised to use a fork lift truck

  • Perform other tasks within the level of responsibility and ability as required by management from time to time

     

    To be successful, you will possess the following experience:

  • Experience of operating a batch, hazardous chemical production plant

  • Experience of working on a Top Tier COMAH facility

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • IT Literate

Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Technician

Job Description

 

In this role as E,C & I Technician, you will be required to work as part of the Maintenance team in order to ensure the top tier COMAH site is operating in a safe and productive manner and maintain and improve undertaking all duties in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and working to all relevant standards.

 

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify and report problems and assist in actions for continuous improvement whilst being flexible in your approach to duties in accordance with the requirements of the business.

Your role will include the following:

 

  • Carry out functional testing of basic process control systems

  • Carry out routine proof testing of safety instrumented systems and critical alarms

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently

  • Carry out routine calibrations of instrumentation

            1. Ensure continued effective operation of site services, including: a. Gas powered steam raising boilers

    • Air compressors

    • Demineralised water plants

    • River water cooling system

    • Cooling towers

Diagnose problems with:

    • The site electrical distribution

    • 415v 3-phase, 110v & 240v electrical equipment

    • SCADA based control loops

    • PLC based control loops

    • Hard-wired solenoid control loops and safety systems

    • Isolate or Immobilise plant safely and to Esseco LOTO procedure

    • Record and maintain records of all electrical, control and instrumentation systems across the site, utilising the Company CMMS system, ensuring they are accurate and up to date at all times

    • Read and extract information from drawings, specification diagrams, operation and maintenance manuals

    • Prepare and maintain site electrical circuit and layout diagrams

    • Perform and record risk assessments for routine and non-routine tasks

    • Work with the project team delivering and commissioning on site projects

    • Be actively involved in training and continuous improvement, write up training notes and share information with the rest of the E, C & I technicians

       

      To be successful in your application, you will meet the following pre-requisites:

       

  • Hold a level 3 electrical qualification and/or have completed a full electrical apprenticeship

  • Hold IPAF certificate (or be prepared to work at height)

  • Trained in BS7671 wiring regulations

  • In depth knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations

  • In depth knowledge of BS60079

  • In depth knowledge of BS EN 61508 and BS EN 61511

  • Excellent understanding of the English Language, both verbal and written

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Effective coaching and performance management skills

  • Excellent PC skills, including MS Office software

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Data driven and self-starter

Engineering Project Manager

Job Description

 

In this role as E,C & I Technician, you will be required to manage and deliver engineering projects on time and within budget for Esseco UK.  As well as being responsible for delivering engineering projects in a safe, efficient and timely manner, ensuring that all work carried out meets the requirements of the business and complies with relevant legislation in force at the time.

 

In addition, you will be a developer of solutions and continuously demonstrate the ability to identify problems and opportunities to develop and implement long-term solutions through process, system and/or technological improvements. Identify and drive actions for continuous improvement.

 

  • Identify improvements and opportunities on site and prepare the business case

  • Manage construction and commissioning phases of approved projects ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget

  • Scope projects to a +/- 10% cost estimate level to determine viability of the project

  • Review and manage safety and regulatory requirements of projects specifically COMAH and Process Safety, ensuring all steps are defined and followed correctly in the process.  Participate and lead HAZOP studies as required

  • Implement defined project scopes for both Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and sustenance expenditure

  • Produce data sheets and documentation for the projects, develop and maintain health and safety files to comply with CDM

 

To be successful in your application, you will meet the following pre-requisites:

 

  • Chartered Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)

  • Degree or equivalent in science or engineering with a minimum of 5 years job related experience or a minimum of 10 years job related experience in a chemical manufacturing environment

  • Proven Project Management skills

  • Experience of leading commissioning of new plant and equipment

  • Knowledge of best practice manufacturing & materials management systems

  • Full working knowledge and experience of Health & Safety and legal requirements for the safe operation of a top-tier COMAH site

  • Experience of operating a batch, continuous chemical processing, hazardous chemical production plant

  • Experience of engineering drawings

  • Proven ability to man-manage direct and non-direct reports within a manufacturing or engineering organisation

  • Excellent understanding of the English Language, both verbal and written

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Effective coaching and performance management skills

  • Excellent PC skills, including MS Office software

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Data driven and self-starter
